What is Chargeable Weight?

The greater of actual and volumetric weight, used to price freight.

Chargeable weight is the figure carriers bill on: the greater of the shipment's actual (gross) weight and its volumetric weight. It ensures light but bulky cargo pays for the space it occupies. Air freight and LCL both price on chargeable weight, using different volumetric divisors.
