Freight Charges
What is Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF)?
A surcharge that passes fuel-price changes through to ocean freight.
BAF (Bunker Adjustment Factor) is a surcharge carriers add to ocean freight to recover changes in bunker (marine fuel) prices. It fluctuates with the oil market and trade lane, and together with the currency adjustment factor (CAF) is one of the main variable add-ons that move an all-in freight rate.
