Customs & Compliance
What is Customs Value?
The value of goods on which customs duty is assessed.
Customs value is the value customs authorities use to assess duty, determined under WTO valuation rules — usually the transaction value (the price actually paid), adjusted to a defined basis such as CIF or FOB depending on the country. Getting it right matters: under-valuation triggers penalties, over-valuation overpays duty.
