What is Sea Waybill?
A non-negotiable transport receipt; no original needed to release cargo.
A sea waybill is a transport document that acts as a receipt and contract of carriage but, unlike a bill of lading, is NOT a document of title and is non-negotiable. The consignee can take delivery on proof of identity without presenting an original document, speeding up release — useful between trusted parties or within the same group, but not suited to letter-of-credit deals.
