What is Consolidation?

Combining several small shipments into one container or load.

Consolidation (or groupage) is the practice of combining multiple smaller shipments — often from different shippers — into a single container to share cost. It is the basis of LCL service and is performed at a container freight station (CFS) before loading and unpacked again at destination.
